It's a look!

Considering the fact that this blog has existed for almost two months now, I think its high time for a full-face makeup look! Anyone who knows me knows that I love makeup, but the truth is that I am far from a frequent wearer. I did this look for a date night, so I wanted something that was effortless looking yet pretty.

I started off by applying my Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation with a damp Beauty Blender, working in small sections. This foundation has great coverage, but if you have dry patches on your face I recommend exfoliating well beforehand, as it can cling a little to those areas. I have it in the shade 08 Cream. I then moved on to concealer – I used a cream formula from MAC that I’m trying to use up, patted in with the same sponge.
For brows, I reached for my trusty EcoBrow in Marilyn on an angled brush. It has great ingredients and does what I need it to. I then combed through my brows with a spoolie brush to make them look a little more natural. To set my face, I used NYX’s Studio Finishing Powder applied with a giant powder brush. A little goes a long way with this product, and I love that it makes my skin look silky smooth. Bonus: it only has one ingredient – silica! For this reason, I consider it a much less expensive dupe for RMS Beauty’s “Un” Powder. Unless the brands process their silica in a radically different way, it’s the same product.
I wanted the star of this look to be my RMS Beauty Swift Shadow in shade GR-19 from the Garden Rose collection. It’s a different colour for me – a lightly shimmery pink that leans slightly towards plum. I applied this all over the lid and crease and then blended it out with a large fluffy eyeshadow brush. I skipped liner and finished off the eye with two coats of Well People’s Expressionist Mascara on top and bottom lashes.
I didn’t want my blush to clash or fight for attention with the rosey eyeshadow, so I used a neutral colour – MAC Matte Powder Blush in Harmony. I finished off the face by using both shades in the Lily Lolo Sculpt and Glow Contour Duo. I’ve noticed an increase in popularity of lip liners lately, probably coinciding with the rise of Kylie Jenner’s famous lips and accompanying Lip Kits. To get a precise, matte lip, I used Milani’s Color Statement Lip Liner in 09 Spice, which I just learned is vegan.

The finished look was just what I was going for – polished, but not overdone. I think there’s something really nice about the contrast between the soft rosey eye and the defined lip that keeps things interesting.
