March Empties/Disappointing Products

At this point, you probably know the drill when it comes to empties posts: below are the products that I finished up during the month of March, or that I’ll be tossing simply because they didn’t work for me.

First off is the Moisturizing Cleanser + Makeup Remover that I got as a sample after my Province Apothecary facial in February. I love this stuff because it does what it says it will – it removes makeup but doesn’t leave skin feeling stripped. I have also use this in as a morning cleanser on occasion. I already have a full-size ready and waiting!
Next is the Josie Maran Divine Drip Honey Butter Balm that I purchased online from Sephora. I ordered it in the Honey Peach scent, which smells like peach yogurt to me. The consistency is rich and creamy, so I preferred to use this after an evening shower to allow it the opportunity to sink in overnight. I used the whole jar, but will not repurchase – it was nice, but for the price it wasn’t anything special.
The Evolvh UltraShine Moisture Conditioner, on the other hand, was a product that I thoroughly enjoyed. Both this and the matching shampoo came in my January Petit Vour box. At first I wasn’t sure about the scent, which is powdery and lingers in the hair once it’s dry, but I came to love it after a few uses. The conditioner could be a bit more moisturizing despite its name, but it’s a nice product to have and to alternate with a heavier treatment.

On to the two disappointing products of this roundup: Blum Naturals Daily Cleansing & Makeup Remover Towlettes and Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Nutrient Eye Cream (which seems to be gone from their website). The wipes have little orange dots on their surface that, in my opinion, are way too abrasive. They are also relatively dry and therefore don’t do a great job of removing makeup. The eye cream is one that I’ve been trying to use up for a while, but I’ve decided to move on from – it just doesn’t sink in and I don’t feel that it provides any benefits to my eye area.
Next is a deluxe sample of Tata Harper’s Rejuvenating Serum that I received at The Detox Market’s Tata Harper “mini-facial” event. This is a beautiful product – it smells amazing and absorbs quickly. The brand is one that I admire because they only use natural, nontoxic ingredients that offer proven results. For me, the only downside of this product is the price, at $130 CAD for 30ml.
Lastly, I used up a tube of Jason Sea Fresh Strengthening toothpaste. Despite being SLS free, it foams up nicely and has a nice fresh spearmint flavor. It does its job well and I would repurchase in the future.
