What’s in my Box? February PV Unboxing

March has somehow managed to sneak up on me. I don’t have classes this term but am still working towards finishing my thesis, so it feels like I simultaneously have all the time in the world and no time at all. I’ve learned that I like having a regular schedule, even if that simply means getting up and making a coffee at the same time every morning. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with work and life but sometimes small changes can have huge impact.

The end of February meant that my Petit Vour box’s arrival snuck up on me too, so it felt like a pleasant surprise. The first thing that I noticed is that instead of the usual hot-pink packaging, it arrived in a more subdued pink-and-white polka dot box. The contents also had me excited, as there were a few products that I had use for right away. That also means a more interesting unboxing because I can include a couple of mini-reviews!

This month’s haul included:

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Cream Shadow Stick (full size): This is the second full size Juice Beauty product in three months, and I’m not complaining! I received the shade 26 Smoke, a light gunmetal silver colour. While the payoff isn’t very intense, it would be pretty alone or as a base for a cool-toned smoky eye.

Konjac Sponge Co. Facial Sponge: Konjac sponges, made from an Asian root vegetable, come all shriveled up and need to be rehydrated with water before each use. I’ve owned one before, and it’s a fun little tool for washing your face. This one is infused with French Pink Clay, which is supposed to be good for perking up tired skin. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to be able to substantiate that claim, but we’ll see. There's a handy string attached so that the sponge can be hung up to dry.

St. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask: I had planned to wash my hair the day that my box arrived, so it was the perfect time to test out this single-use hair treatment packet. It didn’t look or smell any different than regular coconut oil, although it is supposed to contain additives to benefit your hair. It came out in two thorough shampoos and left my hair feeling soft and conditioned. It wasn’t a bad product by any means, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price tag when I have a whole jar of coconut oil at home already.

AILA Cosmetics Nail 3-in-1 Nail Colour Remover Wipe: I was hesitant to try this after a bad experience with Crabtree and Evelyn’s polish remover wipes, which didn’t work at all. I was pleasantly surprised. It removed all of my dark blue polish easily and the wipe was conveniently pre-soaked in acetone-free remover. It left an oily residue on my nails, but that was easily resolved by washing my hands with soap.

Another added bonus with this box is that everything fit neatly inside without the use of cardboard stuffing. I always recycle all of the bits of cardboard, but it’s even better not to have to use them in the first place. As always, everything in the box was vegan and cruelty free.
